JOHN E. MOORE, III

John E. Moore, III graduated from Vero Beach High School and earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, with highest honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1982.  Following work as a staff accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas, Mr. Moore graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. During law school he served as President of the Student Bar Association and received the James C. Slaughter Award recognizing an outstanding graduate in the Class of 1986. 

After a period of private practice with a large Washington firm, from 1991 to 1993 he served in a series of presidentially appointed positions within the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.  His tenure saw service as Deputy Federal Housing Commissioner where he served as part of the senior management team leading the national operations of the Federal Housing Administration.  

In 1993, Mr. Moore returned to his home town of Vero Beach where his family has resided since the 1930's.  His practice focuses in the areas of estate planning and administration and related issues. Both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Moore has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1986 and is also an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar.  Mr. Moore is a frequent Continuing Legal Education and motivational speaker, presenting programs on practice management, personal development, charitable planning, as well as financial, taxation and estate planning matters to bar associations, law firms and charitable organizations in more than 40 states and two Canadian provinces.  He conducts numerous programs to help those aspiring to a career in the law to discern their path into, and through, the profession.

Mr. Moore has served a variety of community organizations in Vero Beach.  He has served as non-partisan elected trustee of the Indian River County Hospital District which oversees indigent medical care and hospital operations in Indian River County.  He has also served as Indian River County’s Affordable Housing Advocate and a member of the Affordable Housing Advisory Commission to the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Moore worked to establish the Community Service Ministry and Men’s Ministry of The Holy Cross Catholic Church and has been a director of numerous local charitable organizations.  His work in the community has been recognized with various community-wide service awards, including the Florida Bar President's Award and the Florida Rural Legal Services Award for Pro Bono Service in the 19th Circuit. 
 
Mr. Moore is a scuba diver, private pilot, sailor and golfer; he currently serves as an Aircraft Commander in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Married to Lee Robinson Moore, the Moores have three children.
